What degree would I need to start a wedding coordination business and be a wedding planner?

by leony on March 21, 2010

I am currently looking for great colleges so after graduating, I can start my own wedding coordination business and become a wedding planner. I was wondering what degree I would need in-order to accomplish this. If you also have any websites with information about wedding planning, please put the link to that website.

What are your thoughts on the subject?

Wedding coordinators don’t need degrees or certifications to do what they do. However, it does help to be certified for it because that way you can charge more for your services. If you’re thinking of starting your own business, get a business degree, learn what you need to know about owning your own business, getting started, etc. This will come in handier in the long run.

You can become a certified wedding planner. A degree isn’t needed. I would aim toward taking business mgmt courses, accountant & public relations classes…alot of community colleges offer great oppurtunities for this as well as the universities. I’m a certified wedding planner – I took the classes that I mention above. My degree is in markeeting.
